Opportunity House Athletes Win Silver At Special Olympics USA Games

SYCAMORE — Opportunity House athletes David and Unified Partner Shannon Steinbis Vanatta earned silver medals while representing Illinois at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis. The pair competed on the Illinois Aces Unified volleyball team during the June 20 through 26 event, joining athletes and partners from across the country. Their performance highlighted teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship while representing Special Olympics Illinois on a national stage. Opportunity House officials said the achievement is a proud moment for the organization and the DeKalb County community. Through Opportunity House Athletics, adults with developmental disabilities have opportunities to compete in sports, build relationships, develop skills, and experience the benefits of being part of a team.
