Cubs Shut Out by Reds as Greene Fans 12

CINCINNATI — The Chicago Cubs struck out a season high 16 times and were shut out 4-0 by the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. Shota Imanaga allowed two runs before the Reds added two more in the seventh, including a two run homer by JJ Bleday. Hunter Greene struck out 12 over seven innings and limited the Cubs to three hits as Chicago suffered its ninth shutout loss of the season. The Cubs will send Javier Assad (6-1, 4.15 ERA) to the mound Saturday against Cincinnati’s Nick Lodolo (3-2, 4.68 ERA).
