LEAF RIVER — Rock River Valley Blood Center is encouraging residents to donate blood during two community drives on Monday. The nonprofit will host drives at All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron and Leaf River United Methodist Church. The organization operates mobile blood drives throughout the area to make donating easier for residents, businesses and community groups. Maggie Anderson, donor recruiter with the Rock River Valley Blood Center, said volunteer donors are essential to keeping hospitals supplied.
The drive in Byron will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. and in Leaf River from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. The Rock River Valley Blood Center has served northern Illinois since 1959 and depends on regular donations to meet patient needs.
