Viewing Area Along Illinois 2 Near Oregon Closed For Improvements

OREGON — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced work is underway at the viewing area along Illinois Route 2 just north of Oregon. The viewing area allows motorists to stop and park to view the Black Hawk Statue located across the Rock River in Lowden State Park. Work includes installing mounted binoculars on an ADA-accessible island. The scenic viewing area will be closed during construction, which is expected to take about 10 days to complete.
