Rochelle Council Approves Parking Restriction on North 15th Street

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council has approved an ordinance amending the municipal code to prohibit parking on the east side of North 15th Street between 10th Avenue and Squires Landing. The 1000 block of North 15th Street serves as a local roadway providing access to the Squires Landing neighborhood, Little Hubs Daycare and Saint Paul Lutheran Church. City staff reported the street is about 31 feet wide from curb to curb and said parking on both sides of the roadway has created safety concerns by narrowing travel lanes and limiting the ability for safe two way traffic. Officials said the change is intended to improve safety, visibility and traffic flow while reducing vehicle conflicts and maintaining consistent lane width for motorists, pedestrians and nearby residents.
