OREGON — An Ogle County Sheriff’s lieutenant who was shot in the face during a 2024 standoff at the Lost Lake gated community has filed a civil lawsuit against the alleged gunman, the gunman’s mother and a real estate business connected to the property. Lt. Jason Ketter is seeking more than $50,000 in damages from Jonathan G. Gounaris, Robin Gounaris and Baldwin Estates. The lawsuit alleges Robin Gounaris manages Baldwin Estates, which operates at the address where the shooting happened. Ketter was one of three members of the Ogle County Emergency Response Team wounded during the June 12, 2024, exchange of gunfire after authorities responded to a report that Jonathan Gounaris was threatening suicide and homicide. Gounaris has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including four counts of attempted first degree murder, and remains jailed while the criminal case continues. Ketter transitioned from active duty to disabled status in February because of his service related injury.
