Illinois Receives $30 Million Federal Grant to Expand Quantum Technology Hub

CHICAGO — Illinois will receive about $30 million in federal funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to expand The Bloch Quantum Tech Hub, a project aimed at growing the nation’s quantum technology industry and strengthening domestic manufacturing. State officials said the funding will support construction of the FaQtory supplier building at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park on Chicago’s South Side, where quantum component manufacturers will work alongside major companies including IBM, PsiQuantum, Infleqtion, Pasqal, Diraq and Quantum Machines. Governor JB Pritzker said the investment supports Illinois’ goal of becoming a global leader in quantum technology. State officials said the grant, combined with nearly $13 million in state matching funds, is expected to help create 30,000 quantum jobs, train 50,000 workers and support 200 quantum companies by 2035.
