BYRON – A 21-year-old Winnebago woman was arrested Thursday morning following a single vehicle crash on Illinois Route 2 near the Rock River. Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies were called at about 5:30 a.m. to the 6600 block of North Illinois Route 2, where they found a pickup truck that had been traveling north before leaving the east side of the roadway while negotiating a curve. The truck struck a mailbox before overturning onto its side near the Rock River. After an investigation, deputies arrested the woman for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration or breath alcohol concentration of .08 or more. She was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage. She was transported to the Ogle County Jail and later released on a notice to appear with a future court date. Byron EMS and Byron Police assisted with the crash.
