DeKALB — The DeKalb City Council approved a four year contract with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 115 Monday night, covering full time sworn officers from sergeant and below from 2027 through 2030. The agreement includes annual 4% cost of living raises each year, along with additional pay adjustments in 2028 for several higher steps to improve retention and keep salaries competitive with other northern Illinois police departments. Other changes include higher training and travel allowances, partial reimbursement for firearms range memberships and adjustments to rules governing compensatory time and retirement trust contributions. The contract replaces the current three year agreement and was ratified by union members in October.
