MONROE CENTER — A 50-year-old Rockford driver was taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center with non life threatening injuries after a two vehicle crash Wednesday around 3:15 p.m. at North Mulford Road and Illinois Route 72. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said the driver allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign while traveling north and struck an eastbound semi driven by a 33-year-old Oglesby man. The passenger vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a cornfield southwest of the intersection. The semi stopped in the westbound lane of Route 72 facing east. The semi-driver was not injured and declined medical treatment at the scene. The Rockford driver was cited for failing to obey a stop sign and failing to stop at an intersection. Monroe Center and Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
