CAMBRIDGE — Illinois singer songwriter Cody Diekhoff, who performs as Chicago Farmer, will take the stage at Ca d’Zan House Concerts in Cambridge on Friday, July 31. Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, the all ages event will begin with an optional community potluck at 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m.
Diekhoff grew up in the farming community of Delavan before moving to Chicago in 2003. His music draws on his rural upbringing and life in the city, blending stories of working people with influences from John Prine, Hank Williams and Woody Guthrie. His songs focus on everyday life, hard work and the experiences of people in both small towns and urban neighborhoods.
“I love the energy, music, and creativity of Chicago, but at the same time, the roots and hard work of my small town,” Diekhoff said. His performances are known for their storytelling and personal connection with audiences, earning praise for capturing the spirit of the Midwest through music.
Guests attending the event are encouraged to bring a dish to share for the potluck and lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A suggested donation of $20 to $30 will be accepted, and the concert is open to music fans of all ages.
