Northern Illinois Collection Sites Announced for Free Agrichemical Container Recycling Program

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Agriculture announced several northern Illinois locations will take part in the state’s free agrichemical container recycling program beginning in August. The program allows farmers and agrichemical facilities to recycle eligible pesticide containers instead of throwing them away. Northern Illinois collection sites include events happening today at Helena Agri Enterprises in Kirkland, CHS Inc. in Maple Park. Collection sites open tomorrow will be at Conserv FS in Rockford.  The Pearl City Elevator in Dakota and Ag View FS in Milledgeville will be open Aug. 5. The department said only clean and dry high density polyethylene #2 plastic agrichemical containers will be accepted. Participants must rinse containers and remove caps, labels and other materials before recycling.
