Transit Funding Is Hot Topic For Legislators In The Illinois General Assembly

SPRINGFIELD –  The fall veto session is underway in Springfield, and legislators have several issues of concern on the table.  One major issue is the transit fiscal challenge.  So far, Metra and Pace have released budgets seeking fare hikes to address their budget deficits.  Illinois AFL-CIO officials Alyssa Goodstein says that service cuts for those agencies and the CTA are being considered.  State lawmakers have until the day before Halloween to discuss a funding bill, among other priorities they’re faced with.
