Three Seriously Injured in DeKalb County Crash

GENOA — Three people were seriously injured in a two vehicle crash at the intersection of North State Road and Melms Road near Genoa Saturday morning. DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies said an 18-year-old woman from Rockton was driving east on Melms Road when she allegedly failed to yield at the stop intersection and was struck on the driver’s side by a sport utility vehicle driven by an 84-year-old woman from Marengo who was traveling south on North State Road. The Rockton woman was taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, a 26-year-old man from Rockton was taken to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, and the Marengo woman was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. All three suffered serious injuries.. The 18-year-old Rockton woman was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to yield at a stop intersection.
