Six Flags Great America Announces New Camp Timber Trail Area for 2027

GURNEE — Six Flags Great America plans to open Camp Timber Trail in spring 2027 as part of a multiyear transformation of the park. The new family themed area in the Yukon Territory section will feature nine attractions, including three new rides, four newly themed rides and longtime favorites such as Little Dipper and Logger’s Run. The new Sky Hawk suspended family coaster is expected to become the Midwest’s longest, tallest and fastest suspended family coaster. Camp Timber Trail also will include themed dining, shopping and outdoor experiences. “But, you know, we also have classics like The Wizard, which is original to the park when it opened in 1976,” said Rachel Kenziara, public relations manager for Six Flags Great America. “And Wizard is like your perfect family coaster.” The park also plans to introduce new elements during this year’s Fright Fest, which begins in September.
