Rochelle Officer Recognized for Lifesaving Response

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Police Department has recognized Officer Edgar Silva for his actions during an emergency near the railroad tracks on July 8, 2025. Police said Silva quickly assessed the situation and applied a tourniquet to a victim with a severe injury. The tourniquet helped control life threatening bleeding until additional medical personnel arrived. Department officials said Silva’s quick response and professionalism played a key role in saving the victim’s life. The department praised Silva for his dedication to serving the community and his commitment to public safety.
