Rochelle Council Approves Special Use Permit for Future Childcare Center

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council on Tuesday approved a special use permit for a childcare center at 211 East Illinois Route 38, the former News-Leader building. The property is zoned B2, which requires special approval for daycare centers. The Planning and Zoning Commission previously voted 5-0 to recommend approval of the project. Mayor Bearrows expressed concerns of the business being so close to the highway and no fencing currently installed. The ordinance passed 7-0.
