OREGON — The City of Oregon will host a three day community celebration the week of June 12 through June 14 marking the nation’s 250th anniversary with events planned across multiple locations in the city. The celebration opens Friday, June 12 in the 100 block of Franklin Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a welcome speech by Mayor Ken Williams, an Oregon High School band performance, an appearance by Paul Revere, student essay presentations, a kids bike parade, a tug of war featuring Oregon police, fire, and public works, an Oregon Big Chair photo opportunity, and food and sweets vendors. Events continue Saturday, June 13 at the Depot Museum at 400 Collins Street from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a welcome speech, Oregon High School essay readers, another band performance, live music, Silverview rail car tours, food vendors, and Rotary raffle sales. The celebration concludes Sunday, June 14 at the Oregon Coliseum and CMAAA at 124 N Fourth Street from noon to 3 p.m. with a flag raising ceremony led by the VFW, welcome remarks, an Oregon High School band performance, announcement of patriotic decoration winners, and a self guided 250 Flags Walking Tour.
