Oregon Detective Sergeant Recognized for River Rescue

OREGON — Detective Sergeant Kevin Most of the Oregon Police Department has been recognized for his actions during a river rescue that helped save a man and two children from a disabled boat drifting toward the Oregon Dam. According to Police Chief Matthew Kalnins, Most was dispatched on June 13 after a report of a boat with a non-functioning motor being carried by the swift current of the Rock River. After locating the vessel, Most found a man in the water struggling to pull the boat to shore while two young children remained inside. He removed his duty belt and ballistic vest before entering the river and helping guide the man and boat safely to the riverbank. Police officials said Most remained with the occupants until emergency responders arrived and credited his quick actions with preventing a potentially tragic outcome. The department praised Most for his bravery, dedication to duty and commitment to protecting the community.
