OREGON — Analysis of 2023 property tax and valuation data shows Ogle County ranks 22nd in the state for equalized assessed value at about $6 billion, while county-only tax collections place it 25th statewide at nearly $13.7 million. In a recent study performed by Blackhawk Hills Regional Council staff member Andy Shaw, using data from the Illinois Department of Revenue, made some comparisons that were presented to the Ogle County Board this month. Per capita, Ogle residents contribute $264 in county taxes, ranking 35th, and the county’s property tax rate is low at 0.678%, placing it 85th among Illinois counties. Breakdown by property type shows Ogle has a relatively high industrial proportion at 32%, moderate residential at 40%, low commercial at 9%, farm at 17%, railroad at 2%, and mineral at 0.02%. Neighboring BHRC counties show varied rankings, with Ogle generally in the middle for most measures but higher in industrial reliance compared to surrounding counties.
