Ogle County Intersection Study Proposes Roundabout at Illinois 64 and 251

KINGS — The Illinois Department of Transportation is studying plans to convert the intersection of Illinois 64 and Illinois 251 in Ogle County into a modern roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow. The current four-way stop was modified in 2025 when Illinois 251 was reduced from four lanes to two. The proposed design features a single-lane roundabout with a 20-foot circulating lane, a 12-foot concrete truck apron for large vehicles, and lighting around the circle. All project phases, including engineering and construction, are funded, and public input will be gathered during a virtual meeting scheduled for tonight from 5 to 6 p.m.
