SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will open the next application period for its Electric Vehicle Rebate Program on Aug. 1, 2026. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 31, 2026, with forms and instructions available through the Illinois EPA. Eligible applicants can receive a $2,000 rebate for a new or used electric vehicle, with low income applicants eligible for an additional $2,000 rebate. Eligible electric motorcycles qualify for a $1,500 rebate. Vehicles must cost no more than $80,000, be purchased from a licensed Illinois dealership and applicants must keep ownership of the vehicle for at least 12 months. Illinois EPA said the program received more than 3,400 applications during the previous cycle, with more than 3,000 rebates issued.
