ROCHELLE — The Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival kicks off tonight at Atwood Park in Rochelle, beginning a three day celebration featuring live entertainment, food, family activities, carnival rides and a fireworks show celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The 29th annual festival runs through Sunday and will take place rain or shine. The event will include a craft and business area, food court, beer garden, kids zone, raffles and other activities throughout the weekend. There will not be a parade this year because of downtown Rochelle construction, with organizers expecting the parade to return in 2027.
“This is our 29th annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival. We are celebrating our heritage so we’re celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of America,” festival representative Heather Simo said.
Friday’s activities begin at 4 p.m. with carnival rides, followed by Little Miss Peanut at 6 p.m. Saturday’s schedule includes a pancake breakfast, car show, live music, wrestling, vendors and a fireworks display at dusk. Sunday will feature more family activities, including a pancake breakfast, carnival rides and entertainment.
