SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Labor has recovered more than $110,000 after finding prevailing wage violations on a solar energy project near Rockford. The investigation found Premise Inc. failed to pay required wages to 27 laborers and electricians working on the project. The company paid nearly $92,000 in back wages to workers and more than $18,000 in penalties to the state. “Workers on publicly funded construction projects deserve every dollar they have earned under Illinois law,” Illinois Department of Labor Director Jane Flanagan said. The department said it will continue investigating wage violations on public works projects.
