SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois State Board of Education has released new guidance to help school districts make informed decisions about using artificial intelligence in K through 12 schools. The guidance is optional and covers classroom use, data privacy, digital citizenship, and local policy development while emphasizing that teachers remain at the center of student learning. ISBE said additional resources and training will be available during the 2026 and 2027 school year.
