Illinois Air National Guard Leader Focuses On Training And Readiness

SPRINGFIELD  — Illinois Air National Guard State Command Chief Master Sgt. Christopher Mertz is focusing on training, readiness and quality of life for airmen as the senior enlisted leader of the force. Mertz said a well trained enlisted force is central to both state and federal missions and is emphasizing professional development, recruiting and retention. He is also encouraging more communication and joint training between Air Guard and Army Guard units to strengthen overall readiness and better support airmen across the state.
