Final Ramp Opening at I-39 and U.S. 20/Harrison Avenue Interchange Delayed Until Oct. 14

CHERRY VALLEY — The Illinois Department of Transportation said the opening of the final ramp at the Interstate 39 and U.S. 20/Harrison Avenue interchange has been delayed until the evening of Oct. 13 and into the morning of Oct. 14. The work will shift traffic from northbound I-39 onto the new ramp to U.S. 20/Harrison Avenue. Other ramps and nearby roads will remain open, though drivers may experience minor delays. The $44.2 million interchange upgrade is part of a larger $302 million project to improve I-39 between U.S. 20/Harrison Avenue and Blackhawk Road in Cherry Valley and Rockford, with most work expected to finish by the end of the year and final details completed in spring 2026.
