Dixon Man Charged With Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse And Domestic Battery

DIXON — A 32-year-old Dixon man has been charged with sexual abuse and battery following a criminal investigation by the Dixon Police Department. Police said Christopher W. Gardner was arrested on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. The investigation began in May 2026 and led investigators to identify Gardner as a suspect. Police obtained an arrest warrant and took Gardner into custody on May 19. Gardner was transported to the Lee County Jail and later released with a notice to appear and electronic home monitoring. The Dixon Police Department said the investigation was assisted by the Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center.
