DeKalb Approves Purchase of Replacement Police Vehicle

DEKALB – DeKalb city officials approved the purchase and equipping of a 2023 Dodge Durango police vehicle to replace a 2021 Ford Explorer squad car that was heavily damaged in a crash. The total cost, including upfitting and striping, is $38,508, with insurance reimbursements and a trade-in reducing the net cost to the city to $10,508. The vehicle, purchased through the Illinois Central Management Services contract from Galena Dodge, has minor previously repaired body damage and 57 miles on the odometer. Funds will come from the Liability and Property Insurance Fund and the Interest Revenue Fund, and the vehicle is expected to serve in front-line patrol for approximately five years.
