DeKalb Approves Multiple Development and School Projects

DEKALB — The City of DeKalb approved several development and zoning projects last week. Safe Passage received approval for an amended final development plan and plat at 217 Franklin Street to expand its emergency shelter and counseling facility, including an increased parking lot and utility easements. Specialized Education of Illinois was approved to rezone 315 N. Sixth Street and operate a private therapeutic day school serving up to 100 students, with site updates, redesigned parking, and off-site parking arrangements. The city also approved a final development plan and plat for 145 Fisk Avenue to redevelop the former St. Mary’s Hospital into residential apartments, including fire access improvements, utility easements, and minor landscaping.
