POLO – A combine was destroyed after a fire on Wednesday afternoon near Polo. The Polo Fire Protection District says they were called around 5:15 p.m. to the 1600 block of North Maryland Road, where they found the Case IH completely engulfed upon arrival. Crews were assisted via mutual aid from Mount Morris, who supplied a Tender and a Chief. No injuries were reported.
Polo Fire Protection Chief Jim Ports wanted to remind farmers to take the time to clean their equipment often, as we have reached the time of the season where persistent dry weather can increase the risk of fires.
