Bumblebees To Be Tracked With Tiny Radio Technology

MOLINE —  A scientific experiment tracking bees will take place in the Quad Cities.  The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service out of Moline is partnering with Cellular Tracking Technologies to track bumblebees in the Quad Cities using tiny radio tags.  Adapted from monarch butterfly research, the tiny solar-powered radio tags will help scientists better understand pollinator movement and habitat use.  The project will begin next summer when researchers will tag 20 to 30 bees.
