MT. MORRIS — A Rock River Valley Blood Center blood drive will be held today at Pinecrest in Mt. Morris as the organization works to keep area hospitals supplied with blood. The drive runs from noon to 5 p.m. at 414 S. Wesley Ave. The Rock River Valley Blood Center relies on volunteer donors and processes blood donations for use by local medical facilities. Maggie Anderson, donor recruiter with the center, said community support plays an important role in helping patients who need blood. The center separates donations into components such as red blood cells, plasma and platelets, allowing one donation to help multiple people.
