Air Quality Alert Issued Across Northern Illinois

ROCKFORD — An air quality alert is in effect Monday across Northern Illinois as smoke from Canadian wildfires moves into the region. The National Weather Service is advising residents to limit prolonged outdoor activities and heavy exertion while air quality levels remain reduced. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued an Areawide Air Pollution Action Day for portions of Illinois due to the elevated smoke levels.
