Braden Montgomery hit a 2-run home run in the 10th inning in his first major league game as the Chicago White Sox beat the Atlanta Braves 6-5. It was his second hit of the game as he had an RBI single earlier.
Miguel Vargas also hit a 2-run homer as Chicago came from behind after trailing 4-0.
The win put the White Sox a half game out of first place behind Cleveland in the AL Central Division.
Atlanta took the lead in the top of the 10th inning on an RBI single by Mauricio Dubon.
Matt Olson had 2 home runs for the Braves.
Game 2 in the series is Wednesday night at Rate Field.
