Underwood Introduces Bill Requiring Baby Changing Stations in Health Centers

WASHINGTON – Rep. Lauren Underwood introduced bipartisan legislation that would require federally qualified community health centers to provide safe and accessible baby changing tables in public restrooms. The bill, co-led by Rep. Jeff Van Drew, provides $5 million to help facilities make the necessary upgrades and mandates clear signage showing the location of the stations. Community health centers have served millions of patients since 1965, but many lack proper amenities for families with young children. The legislation builds on Underwood’s earlier House-approved Baby Changing on Board Act and has the support of advocacy group MomsRising.
