CHICAGO — The Trump administration said Monday it will use emergency funds to cover only half of November’s SNAP benefits after judges ordered payments to continue during the federal shutdown. The USDA declined to tap other funding sources, meaning recipients will see reduced and delayed benefits. According to IllinoisPolicy.org, Ogle, Lee, and DeKalb counties have a combined 11,483 households, about 22,000 individuals, receiving SNAP as of September 2025. 1.86 million residents statewide utilize the program.
