Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Weapons Arrest in DeKalb County

SYCAMORE – A traffic stop late Sunday night led to the arrest of a 42-year-old Sycamore man after deputies allegedly found drugs and illegal weapons in his vehicle, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The stop occurred around 11:35 p.m. at Somonauk and Keslinger Roads near DeKalb. Authorities say they allegedly discovered about 2 grams of purported cocaine, 1 gram of purported methamphetamine, 43 purported Adderall pills, brass knuckles with a built-in switchblade, and another switchblade knife. The driver, Steven Hernandez, was arrested and later released with a court date. He faces charges including unlawful possession of meth (Class 3 felony), unlawful possession of a controlled substance (two Class 4 felonies), and unlawful possession of weapons (Class A misdemeanor).
