Three Teens Charged For Fleeing Police In Rockford

ROCKFORD —  Three teenage boys are charged for fleeing a traffic stop in Rockford.  Police say officers pulled over a vehicle near Gilbert Avenue and Rockwell Street on Tuesday night.  The car took off and crashed into a snowbank before three juvenile males ran off, while one juvenile female stayed in the car.  Three 17-year-old boys were located and arrested.  While officers were conducting a K-9 track, two pit bulls escaped from a yard on Liberty Drive and attacked a Rockford Police K-9.  Both pit bulls were shot and killed, and the K-9 officer was sent to an emergency veterinary clinic and is expected to recover.
