Sheriff Clarifies Helicopter Landing At Rockford Casino

ROCKFORD — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says a Homeland Security Investigations helicopter that landed in the Hard Rock Casino parking lot Thursday was delivering evidence to deputies as part of a criminal investigation. The sheriff’s office said the case does not involve the casino or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and noted it complies with Illinois laws including the TRUST Act and Way Forward Act, which prohibit local police from participating in immigration enforcement.
