It was a second place finish for senior Andrew Nuyen in the pole vault Saturday at the Boys Class 2A State Track & Field Meet at Eastern Illinois University.
Nuyen cleared 17 feet, 6.5 imches.
The winner was Isaiah Whitaker of Bloomington Central Catholic with a height of 17 feet, 8.5 inches or 2 inches higher than Nuyen.
Andrew twice broke the state record during his attempts which is also a school record.
RTHS Head Track Coach Dale Bergeson said that Nuyen has the second height in state history when compared to all 3 classes in the pole vault event.
Nuyen plans to pole vault in college at South Florida.
