SOMONAUK — DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded early Thursday to a crash on Suydam Road east of Somonauk Road where a passenger vehicle driven by a 40-year-old Sandwich man left the roadway and reportedly struck a barn. Deputies say they detected the odor of alcohol and conducted field sobriety tests, after which the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for improper lane usage and driving too fast for conditions.
