Rochelle Woman Dies After Crash On Interstate 88

ROCHELLE — A 27-year-old Rochelle woman died Monday after a crash on Interstate 88 west of Rochelle. According to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, Araceli Zepeda was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with another vehicle, lost control, and struck a tree line around 9:22 a.m. Zepeda was airlifted by OSF Life Flight to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m. An autopsy has been completed, and the cause of death is pending further studies. The crash remains under investigation by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.
