Rochelle Man Arrested After UTV Pursuit

ROCHELLE – A 53-year-old Rochelle man is facing multiple charges after a pursuit through fields on a Can-Am UTV. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office says Harold Thompson on Thursday around 6 p.m. failed to stop during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of S. White Rock Road and allegedly fled into an open field.  Deputies tracked the UTV as it traveled south on Church Road and east on Kings Road, weaving through several fields before Rochelle police located it in the 1200 block of N. Caron Road, where it finally stopped. Thompson was arrested for aggravated fleeing to elude and cited for speeding 21-25 mph over the limit, failure to stop at intersections twice, operating an uninsured vehicle, operating a non-highway vehicle on the roadway, and reckless operation of a non-highway vehicle. Thompson was taken to the Ogle County Jail and released on a Notice to Appear.
