ROCHELLE — Mayor John Bearrows has proclaimed May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month in Rochelle to recognize the importance of mental health and encourage residents to seek support when needed. City officials said mental health affects individuals, families and communities, and noted that many people do not seek help because of stigma or lack of access to care. The proclamation also recognized local healthcare providers, schools, faith based groups and community organizations that support residents facing mental health challenges. Bearrows encouraged residents to promote understanding, support those who may be struggling and help build a more compassionate community.
