DEKALB — A Flag Day Car Show and Veteran Event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Brad Manning Ford, 402 Manning Drive in DeKalb, featuring classic and custom vehicles, food vendors, family activities, patriotic displays and recognition for local veterans. The free event will include vehicle awards, including a Best of Show trophy reserved for veterans who enter their vehicles. Organizer Gus Guevara said the event is designed to bring the community together while honoring those who served.
“I was in the Navy and my heart goes out to everyone that served. We owe them a debt of gratitude, but I like doing these kind of things because it’s awesome that the community comes together for them and we have a lot of fun here. We have a lot of veterans come through. It’s a big patriotic day,” Guevara said. Organizers expect the event to draw car enthusiasts, veterans and families from across the area, with attractions including a Blue Angels tribute motorcycle, patriotic crafts, a face painter, baby goats and a large American flag display visible from Interstate 88.
