ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council Monday approved funding for Phase Three of the Joint Fire Training Facility at 920 South Main Street and the associated lighting package earlier this month. The council authorized waiving competitive bidding and funding 50% of the $669,000 prefabricated three-story training structure, designed for multi-story residential and commercial fire simulations, including burn rooms, stairwells, fire escapes, balconies, a simulated elevator shaft, and space for high-angle and confined-space rescue drills. The Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District will cover the remaining 50%. The council also approved a $34,275 lighting package from Wesco Distribution, with costs again split evenly between the city and the fire district.
