Rochelle Council Adds All-Way Stops at Five Intersections

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council on Tuesday approved adding all-way stop signs at five intersections after safety concerns and traffic studies found they met criteria for additional control. The intersections include Seventh Avenue and Second Street, Eighth Avenue and Woolf Court, South Main Street and Veterans Parkway, Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue, and Sixth Street and Fourth Avenue. Officials said the change will improve safety and traffic flow in areas with truck traffic, schools, and pedestrians. Tim Isley with Rochelle Public Works said that flags will be hung on the new signs. Installation of the new signs will begin this week, as soon as Wednesday the 15th.
