Rochelle Will See 3% Increase in Property Tax Revenue Despite Lower Tax Rate

ROCHELLE — The City of Rochelle is preparing its annual property tax levy for the next city council meeting Monday night. Last year, the City’s equalized assessed valuation (EAV) was $324.5 million, with a property tax rate of .928120 per $100 of EAV, generating $3,011,953 in revenue. For 2025, Ogle County estimates the City’s EAV at $354.4 million, an increase of nearly $30 million. While the proposed levy would increase property tax revenue by 3% to $3,104,199, the tax rate would actually drop to .875916 per $100 of EAV because the overall property base has grown. The levy includes funding for Police and Fire Pension Funds as recommended by the boards’ actuarial studies.
