ROCHELLE – Project SEARCH is hosting an Information Night from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening at the Rochelle Public Library for students with disabilities, their families, educators, and community members. The event offers details on internship opportunities, the application process, and program activities, along with stories from current and past interns. Project SEARCH provides students ages 18 to 21 with hands-on internships supported by on-site specialists and classroom instruction on workplace and independent living skills.
“Project Search is like the training ground to get all these skills at work for someone who would maybe need like a job coach in the community, and going through this program helps them get a real job in the community and helps them be independent,” said Autumn Gabriel, Project SEARCH manager.
Students must have an individualized education plan, be referred by a participating school district, and be ready to graduate upon program completion.
